1. Solidarity:
This organization is a network, a community, a family, a team, and a joint effort of businesses who serve the local area to advance the economic development and success of its businesses, members, and general interests of the Amite, LA and the surrounding areas. We are one organization representing the area businesses. Our strength lies in our numbers and representation from each and every field of business.
2. Representation:
The Chamber serves as the voice of the business, civic, industrial, and agricultural communities and plays and active role in expressing your views to all levels of government. A Chamber officer or director attends pertinent city and parish council meetings and reports back to the membership any issues affecting the business community.
3. Resource:
Finance, marketing, management, e-commerce, law and legislation and we work with Amite City Officials, (TEDF)Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation, SLU Business Development Center, Tangipahoa Tourism, Hammond and other area Chambers, (LABI) Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, local Attorneys, CPA’s, and Legislators. If you have a question about a specific problem your business is having, it can be referred to one of our Chamber Partners. A monthly newsletter is written and published by the Chamber, disseminates information from these various resources.
4. Networking:
Through Chamber involvement, members have the opportunity to make professional contacts that can result in profitable business relationships. The Chamber "After Hours" specifically serves as an informal networking tool in a social atmosphere. We also have our annual Bon Appétit and Christmas Party.
5. Promotion:
The Chamber provides a variety of ways to promote your business by advertising in its newsletter, advertising on our Facebook page, advertising on our website, sponsoring events, addressing membership meetings, and serving on committees. We send out a monthly e-newsletter for and about our members. This news source goes out to approximately 200 area businesses. In addition, promotional materials (provided by you) are displayed in the Chamber building upon request.
6. Internet Presence:
We now have a professional website. This website has a growing number of daily hits and has is linked on multiple other local business organizations websites. The Website allows an opportunity to our members to advertise. We also have an alphabetical as well as categorical directory listing on our website for our membership. The Amite Chamber can also be found on Facebook (1500 + followers), and Twitter.
7. Business Spotlight:
Each month we choose a Business Spotlight. This consists of a short description of your services and some background on your business that will be printed in our Monthly Newsletter. We will also showcase this information on the front page of our website, and Facebook, as well as being spotlighted in all of our emails for the month.
8. Exposure at Chamber Events:
Opportunities for high visibility from sponsorship, advertising, or participation for your business are available through several Chamber events: The Annual Bon Appétit, The Oyster and Christmas Parades, and any other events that we may host.
9. Business Referrals:
The Chamber receives hundreds of inquires each year for products and services from inside and outside our area. Chamber members are the first to be referred to these individuals or firms.
10. Education:
Once a month at the general meeting, a speaker will elaborate on important issues which may include: marketing, money, management, e-commerce, law and legislation.
11. State of the Parish and State of the City Reports:
On a regular basis the Chamber meets with the Mayor and Town Council and when necessary will speak with the Parish President and Parish Council on pressing issues. We will report any important information to the general membership of our Chamber.
